Pitch 92 – Delicacies (High Focus)

By way of Ireland to Germany to Switzerland to England, Pitch 92 has built a brand of hip hop layered with soul-filled, jazzy beats. This release from August of this year is no different. It is a roadmap from where he comes from, maybe to where he is headed next. Only more recently does his catalog showcase his solo journey, punctuated by the additions of Jehst, Apex, King Kashmere, and Verb T, amongst others. Now, Delicacies displays the starter material which might call from these vocal contributions. Without them, you get the sense that he just might be on to something worth exploring more.

Pitch 92 claims his worldly influences from the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, J Dilla and others. These influences are clear and transparent on Delicacies. But, you’ll notice that this collection of originals transform the sounds of 70’s jazz and funk as he layers them with modern synths and solid beats. Apparently, these tracks mature with age as P92 laid down the foundations of these during the first lockdown. Included on the release are eight original works with an addition of instrumentals from the underground cellar waiting for your first taste. If your palette agrees, be on the lookout for Deep Cuts on Hip Dozer, scheduled for release in October.
